Welsh Financial Services Graduate Program

Remuneration: £14,500 + fully funded MSc in Financial Services Management.
Location:   Nantgarw or Cardiff

The highly prestigious Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme is a collaborative full-time programme of work, training and academic study unique to Wales, designed and delivered by leading financial services organisations and funded by the European Social Fund.

Participating employers include GM Financial, Grant Thornton, Principality Building Society, Admiral, Atradius, BBC Finance Centre of Excellence, Finance Wales, Optimum Credit, Composite Legal Expenses and Julian Hodge Bank.

We are looking for 6 bright, talented graduates to join the programme and undertake the following placements;

  • GM Financial – Pricing, Collections & Retail
  • Principality Building Society – Distribution & Strategy
  • Atradius – IT Services - Project Management / Business Analysis

The programme will give you confidence, depth of knowledge, transferable skills, highly valuable work experience, involvement in challenging projects, a Masters qualification and the opportunity to apply for permanent job openings as they arise.

You will have the opportunity to rotate across the participating employers sampling a number of different career paths for the remaining 12 months of the programme, such as risk/underwriting, commercial account management, product development, business analysis, accounting, financial control, credit risk, research/strategy and marketing

With support from the University, successful candidates will be expected to catch up with the existing MSc qualification so we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the tenacity and commitment to succeed!


  1. 2.1 degree – we are particularly interested in the disciplines of Computing, Business, Economics, Accounting and Marketing.
  2.  Must live or work in Wales.
  3. Must be able to work in UK and hold a current passport.
  4. Ability to write and speak fluent English.

Personal Skills

We looking for candidates with the following attributes:

  • The confidence and sound judgement and the ability to work to tight deadlines and  prioritise tasks
  • The ability and willingness to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
  • The ability to absorb technical information and an analytical mind
  • High level of numeracy, the ability to analyse financial data and an understanding of basic economics
  • Candidates who can demonstrate professional behaviour / etiquette within a commercial environment and balance work with academic study.

There is no guarantee of permanent employment however you will be in an exceptionally strong position to apply for job openings which will arise within the participating employer organisations.

If shortlisted, you will be required to participate in numerical testing, a telephone interview and must be available to attend an Assessment Centre on the 18th February 2015 in Cardiff.
