Why we invested
Early stage company Nightingale
approached Finance Wales with a co-investment opportunity, the
first of its kind with Mercia Technology Seed Fund. The
company had devised a laser technology, Beam Profile Reflectometry
(BPR) that measures thin coatings used particularly in medical
devices.
The outcome
Nightingale EOS was able to complete development of its first
product as a result of the co-investment and additional grant
funding by the Welsh Assembly Government.
By reducing the cost of manufacturing medical devices and
improving their quality, Nightingale's IP has great commercial
potential. BPR will also help medical device manufacturers
comply with FDA regulations.
