Alun Thomas joins Finance Wales

Finance Wales has appointed Alun Thomas, a former Director of Business Support at Barclays as its Senior Investment Executive in West Wales.

An experienced senior banker, Thomas has worked with small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) for over 30 years in a career that has included roles at ABN Amro, Lloyds TSB and Royal Bank of Scotland. He has a broad range of experience in corporate finance, structured finance, government lending, invoice discounting and factoring in addition to turnaround funding/management.

Thomas will focus on making debt, mezzanine and equity investments in SMEs based in Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea from the £150 million Wales JEREMIE Fund as well as the £40 million Wales SME Investment Fund.

“Finance Wales has more capital to invest in a wider range of Welsh SMEs than ever before and with the new Wales SME Investment Fund it can now invest in SMEs selling goods and services to consumers.  It has already invested in numerous local businesses and I’m keen to ensure that even more of them make the most of investment from Finance Wales,” Thomas explained.
