Sportswear supplier Linebreak UK scores six-figure funding deal from Finance Wales

Sports compression garment supplier Linebreak UK has secured a six-figure investment deal from Finance Wales to expand their Cardiff-based business.

CEO Dean Conway took on the licence to sell the exclusive sportswear – popular with elite athletes – in 2015. Since then he’s secured deals to supply the FAW for the Wales Football Squad, England  Cricket Stars, Sport Wales, Liverpool FC, Welsh Rugby Players, amongst other elite sports individuals and teams.

“As England Cricket Team Physiotherapist I used the Linebreak product range during matches to aid player recovery. A bowler can regularly cover 25km in a day during a test match or championship game. The compression garments help to improve recovery and can reduce the risk of injury, which is why they are gaining popularity with elite athletes and serious amateurs alike,” explained Dean.

“Finance Wales’ investment means we’ve been able to expand our sales and marketing team in Cardiff and increase our stock levels to facilitate growth. Myself and Leighton Humphreys our FD have been able to put a growth plan together with the help of this support. This growth means we’ve been able to support UK and Welsh sports stars with the best compression garments on the market.”

The compression garments are now an important part of the Welsh football squads’ kit. Linebreak gear will be a key tool in making sure players like Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Ledley and Ashley Williams are match ready ahead of the England game.

“We have used Linebreak sports compression gear over the last few months to help with recovery, travel fatigue and injury prevention,” explained FAW Head of Fitness Ryland Morgans.

“It helped in our preparations for Euro 2016 and during the tournament, player feedback has been excellent.”

Dean has also been able to bring some of those sports stars on board as co-investors. The world’s number one batsman, England cricketer Joe Root, also has a stake in the firm.

“I’ve used these garments professionally and I already have a good working relationship with Dean, so it was an obvious investment for me to make,” added Joe.

“The support of the Finance Wales team has also been a major boost to the business and we’re really excited to be able to share our business and product with other athletes because of it.”

New Investments Deputy Fund Manager, Bethan Cousins, structured the deal on behalf of Finance Wales.

“With such a strong brand and dedicated management team this was a great opportunity for us to back an exciting Welsh business with a high quality product. Dean and Joe are enthusiastic brand advocates with an excellent network and strong business plan. Through their efforts we’re already seeing more and more athletes, whether they’re sports stars or keen amateurs, using the Linebreak range.”
